Farmgrass is a central Texas based non-profit with the mission of promoting the mental and physical well-being of local, independent farmers. When the farmers who grow the food for our farmers markets and our favorite farm-to-table restaurants get sick or hurt, they struggle to maintain their jobs, their homes, their families, and their livelihoods. Farmgrass is dedicated to helping our local farmers in need by raising emergency medical funds. Our innovative and exciting events showcasing local food and music also help raise awareness in the community about farmers and their struggles.
Farmgrass is hosting two major events this year to help raise critical funds for central Texas farmers suffering from medical emergencies.
Our second annual Farm to Feast, an evening celebrating our local central Texas farmers and their produce, will be held at Barr Mansion on March 9th, 2017. Chef Fermin Nunez, Farmhouse Delivery and Independence Brewery will be providing dinner and drinks, with duo Lil Darlin and a live auction to add to the festivities.
Farmgrass Fest ’17, our fourth annual music festival will be held on Simmons Family Farm on May 12 – 13, 2017. This year we are adding a Friday night campground outdoor movie featuring “O Brother, Where Art Thou?,” eight great local bands, more farm-fresh food options and family-friendly entertainment. High Plains Jamboree will keep your feet stomping and warm up the dance floor for The Lost Pines. Then Hot Club of Cowtown gets the crowd hootin’ and hollerin’ for headliners Whiskey Shivers and Shinyribs.
Proceeds from these events go towards an emergency medical fund for farmers. With your help, we can transform our emergency medical fund into a comprehensive health care plan for farmers that will include affordable preventative care, medical cost mediation services, and a web-based hub for medical resources and referrals.
